Scholarships

Student Scholarships—Various scholarships are given to Senior students have achieved excellence and have the desire to pursue additional training and education in their field. Marion Education Foundation Scholarship

2016-2017 Scholarship List
Each Scholarship Award will be $500.00.Marion scholarship application

  • Leona Dreyer: Bio-Former Marion ISD employee who served the district as a teacher aide for over 40 years. Special attention will be given to students who will pursue a post-secondary education in teaching and attended Krueger Elementary for at least one year, but not a requirement for applying for the scholarship.
  • Bert and Sue Karrer: Bio- Former Marion ISD employees who served as girls coaches for over twenty years at the high school and junior high level. Together they won over 15 district titles. Mr. Karrer served as a high school and elementary principal in the district. Special attention will be given to students who will pursue a post secondary education in teaching, but not a requirement for applying.
  • Sally Boeck Memorial Scholarship: Bio-Former Marion ISD school counselor and former member of the Marion ISD school board. Awarded to a local resident who graduated from high school more than five years ago and is enrolling in college. If there are no applicants who meet this criteria, then the scholarship will be given to any deserving student.
  • Boeck Family Scholarship: Will pursue a post secondary education at a university in a field relating to history, art, foreign language, or teaching, but not a requirement for applying.
  • Lorraine Tschirhart: Will pursue a post secondary education at a community college or university in a field related to teaching or science, but not a requirement for applying.
  • Coach John Anderson: Bio- former teacher and coach in the Marion ISD and retired Army officer who served in Vietnam. Scholarship will be awarded to any eligible Marion High School student who exhibited a  high degree of integrity and work ethic during their four years of high school.
  • Perkins Family Scholarship: Awarded to a Marion High School student who is a daughter or son of an educator in the Texas public  education system.
  • Bulldog Patriot Scholarship:  Awarded to a Marion High School student who is a son or daughter of a retired or active military parent. Other requirements may apply for the scholarship.
  • Joe Ritterhouse Tuition Assistance Grants: ($250.00 grants)- Awarded to students who are interested in a vocational or technical career. Students may apply the grant for tuition or training in their desired work field.  (last year of award)
  • Marion High School 2017 Valedictorian Scholarship Award- $500.00 award to highest ranking student in graduation year 2017.
  • Veterans Memorial Park (City of Marion, Texas) Scholarship Award:   first year award
